Collision Theory
The collision theory states that for a chemical reaction to occur, collisions have to take place.
These collisions have to have enough energy to collide and break the bonds; this energy is known as the activation energy.
As well as this, the collisions are only successful if the orientation of the molecules is correct. If the orientation was not correct then there would be no reaction due to the reactive parts of the molecules not colliding.
